First-Ever World Hot Air Balloon Championship Comes to Paraguay in 2025

Paraguay will host the first-ever World Hot Air Balloon Championship over the breathtaking Lake Yguazú in the Alto Paraná region from August 28 to 31, 2025. This landmark event will feature 30 elite balloon pilots from over 20 countries, including top contenders from Japan, Australia, Korea, Latvia, Brazil, and France.

🌄 Why Yguazú?

The Yguazú district was carefully selected for its ideal balloon flight conditions and strict safety standards. The region’s natural beauty and open landscapes provide a stunning backdrop for this high-flying competition.

The championship is organized by the Latin America International Balloon Festival in partnership with Paraguay’s Civil Aeronautics Directorate, with the goal of making this an annual global event under the name Yguazú International Hot Air Balloon Festival.

More Than a Championship: The Alto Paraná Balloon Fiesta

Coinciding with the main event is the Alto Paraná Balloon Fiesta, hosted at Minga Guazú Club. This public celebration will include:
